Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm an author of Erotic Romance and have over 25 books traditionally published. Right now I'm working on launching my self-published books, including The Star of Eternity (July 2017) Inheritance of the Blood (October 2017) and Cyborg:Redux (December 2017)
About 50% of all my books are erotic Science Fiction but I've also written Paranormal books, including the Blood Secrets trilogy and the Cupid Series (though the publisher hasn't grouped them together)
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Star of Eternity – this book was 7 years in the writing mainly because after I finished Starburst I needed to work on something new.
The Star of Eternity finishes the story arc that began with Starline and is in true Galactic Fleet style featuring aliens, invaders, war… Being a Trekkie from way back (got the uniform & all!) it was quite a job to create a world that was fully formed like you'd see in the traditional stories of Science Fiction and I learned from Linnea Sinclair and Anne McCaffrey the importance of a robust world.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I'm a full time author – but having said that, the biggest thing I do is refuse to accept Writers Block. Over time, I've come to learn that if the words are there, they'll flow. If not, then I need to let them brew a little longer. On days where I'm not writing, I'll often read a book, play on Social Media or be out and about with my family.
I do however, like to meander around the house, depending on the weather. In summer I hole up in front of the air conditioner in the dining room. The rest of the time I'm in my office, with the 2 dogs and cat sacked out on their beds…
Sometimes I like to write in bed too… but that's usually in winter when my toes are cold!
Oh and you can usually tell when I'm writing a sexy scene, because my office door is often closed at that time!
For musical accompaniment, I'll stick to Gregorian Chants 🙂
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Linnea Sinclair's Dock 5 books
Anne McCaffrey – any of them!
JD Robb – In Death
These books have all played their part in forming the writing style I've cobbled together. Having said that though, I'm a writing in evolution. Things are always subject to change.
What are you working on now?
Right now I'm writing the second title in the 21st Testing Protocol – Children of a Greater Evil, which follows on from Cyborg: Redux.
In a world in turmoil, where genetic engineering and cybernetic implantation therapy exist power and money make the decisions. But one decision, one man's evil threatens the very fabric of the democratic society and brings civilisation to the brink of a true world wide war.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Best method? I'm still working on that.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. There's nothing to edit or polish if nothing is written! Don't leave it til tomorrow, sit down now and get the words in your head on the page.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Get a professional editor to work your book. Readers will thank you for it!
What are you reading now?
The Presence by Heather Graham
What’s next for you as a writer?
Once I finish the piece I'm working on, the question is do I go back and finish Song of the Sea or the 3rd 21st Testing Protocol book or finish the historical I started a couple of years ago… or something completely different. I'm a bit scatterbrained when it comes to writing in order! 😀
What is your favorite book of all time?
I really struggle to find one book because so many resonate with me…
It could be Naked in Death (JD Robb)
It could be Hope's Folly (Linnea Sinclair)
I honestly can't pick just one!
