What inspires you to write?
Making the world a better place inspires me to write. To see that faint crease at a person’s mouth blossom into a gorgeous smile is my life’s intention. My writing aims to show everyone to take pride in themselves for who they are, and not to be another brick in the wall! You are an amazing being with so much unbelievable talent and potential, why would you not use it?
The world is your oyster if you care enough to reach. Let go of the negativity and focus on your happiness, that is the motto and message behind my writing 🙂
Tell us about your writing process.
For me, I like to have a rough outline of the novel before starting. Of course, as I’m writing, I will tend to add on more goodies so as to spice up the book. The editing process is only done after the entire novel is complete. I am a firm believer in write first, edit later.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
To be honest, most of my characters are real life characters! So yes, indeed, we often have a dialogue going between us, be it externally or internally. It all boils down to whether you are willing to listen to your character, without a biased and judgemental opinion. A circumscribed, blinkered view is the worst. Breathe in life into each character, explore their strengths and weaknesses, and of course, eccentricities!
What advice would you give other writers?
Never give up. If you feel tired, take a break, then get right back at it. All too often, the number one reason as to why writers fail to complete their books are laziness, procrastination, or the fear of no one will find it a good read. Just complete your book, remember, you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self-publish my book, despite offers from a few small-time publishers. I would say the world is a large place, and Amazon’s Kindle publishing has really allowed me to interact with my fans from all over the world effortlessly. Ebooks are the stuff of future, and I foresee a huge increase in demand for ebooks as more readers turn to online books due to their ease of accessibility and convenience, not to mention lower costs! I definitely recommend Amazon’s Kindle publishing to all authors, regardless of your level of expertise.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The future of book publishing is a bright one. I can only attribute this to us readers, who love to read a good book, and be transported into another world. That was another one of my inspirations: to transport the reader into another dimension altogether. I find that many books nowadays lack the elements to satisfy a reader, leaving the reader feeling slightly…cheated?
