Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm a twenty-something girl living somewhere on planet Earth. Books are my favorite thing in the world.
My vices include eating mountains of chocolate and binge watching TV shows like Teen Wolf and Grey's Anatomy. Friends is my all-time favorite show.
I'm a nocturnal creature of the worst kind–reading (and writing) is just so much better at night!
My Life As I Knew It is my first book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called My Life As I Knew It by Peri June (eBook available on all Amazon marketplaces). It is a contemporary romance novel. I would also put it under the "realistic fiction" category.
The main character is a girl called Maggie–a very self-aware person. When we meet her she's going through a very difficult time in her life, but rest assured, there are plenty of light moments too, because her love interest is a very cheeky guy who made me laugh and grin whenever he appeared on the page.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't know if I would call it unusual, but I can only write at night. I just can't seem to focus on my writing during the day.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
One of the very first Adult books I read was by Susan Elizabeth Phillips–I've never laughed so much while reading. I've been reading everything she writes since then.
Her books are amazingly funny and always manage to lift my mood.
Where romance books are concerned, for me one of the best is Karen Marie Moning. She knows how to bring on the feels.
What are you working on now?
I'm currently working on a New Adult College Romance with a little dark edge.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I've only recently discovered free promotion sites like this one. I've been told that they are great for exposure for new authors.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
As a new author myself, I've found that writing your book is the easy part. Navigating the publishing (or self-publishing) world is what's daunting with all the marketing you have to do to get someone to read your book.
So my advice is that you should advertise your book whenever and wherever you can.
Word-of-mouth is also really helpful.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Nora Roberts once said that you can always fix a bad page later, but you can't fix a blank one. I always keep that in mind whenever I'm having a bad writing day.
What are you reading now?
I just started a book called Power Play by Tiffany Snow. It looks to be an exciting book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully I'll keep on writing.
What is your favorite book of all time?
That's a really difficult one for me to answer. I love so many books!
