Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a New Yorker, born and breed. Reading as always been a great love of mine right after music, reading books is what fueled my desire to become an author. I was always a writer, I was never too far without a pen and paper (or phone now) in hand ready to jot down my next story, or poem.
I’m an animal lover, and coffee addict. I love the warm weather and sunshine. I am miserable when it’s cold. Being a native New Yorker, I’m not pleasant six months out of the year, sometimes longer.
I walk around with my headphones in my ears because I believe everything that happens in my life should have its own soundtrack.
I published my first book Shattered in 2013. It’s the first installment in the Shattered Hearts Series.
Shattered started out as an assignment for a college course I took in John Jay. After I graduated college I went through my old papers and reconnected with the story morphing into so much more then what I wrote in my college course.
I am now a published author of two books and am working on finishing the Shattered Hearts Series and other new projects.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Into Pieces. It’s part of a series so what inspired it was a college assignment but what has made it grow is me as a person, as a woman and as an author. This second book took so much out of me. It took two years to complete from the first book but I’m glad it did. As a writer and as a reader you can see my growth not just within the characters but with me as well.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have to eat when I write. I don’t understand it but I write better and more if I have a snack. (I’ve learned to make the healthy snacks now lol. Before it was all cheese and chips and cookies.)
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jr Ward hands down is my favorite author. She can do no wrong in my eyes. Everything she puts out is a classic.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on the third installment to my shattered hearts series as well as a new book. The title is tentative, Tesoro. It means treasure in Italian. It’s also my first stab at writing in third person. My first two books are in first person POV.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Instagram and Facebook.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing. You can edit later.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Put one foot in front of the other and keep moving.
What are you reading now?
Overruled by Emma Chase
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have my very first public reading on Jan 4th and I have two signings this year. One in New Jersey and the other in New York.
What is your favorite book of all time?
A native Son by Richard Wright.
