Tell us about yourself and your books.:
I don't think I've ever written anything but erotic romance, unless you count my first published work – an exceedingly stuffy tome on the history of Quakers in the US. But all the stories I kept hidden in my computer had pretty explicit sex from the start. And noncon. And D/s. And spanking/caning/cropping/bondage/dungeons… Well, you get the picture.
I blame Anne Rice – her "Sleeping Beauty" series were the first steamy books I ever read.
Oh, I also blame my college roommate. She loaned me the books. Thank you, Kari!!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write naked while drinking Absolut Vodka.
Nah, not really. My husband said to write that. I *have* been known to call in sick to work so I could write all day. That's about as exciting as I get.
What authors have influenced you?
I seriously idolize Anne Rice and Diana Gabaldon (The Outlander series). Anne Rice, for showing me that erotica can be incredibly entertaining, and Diana Gabaldon for pretty much everything else, and keeping the reader's interest book after book (after book, after book…)
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep your head down and write, write, write. Concentrate on becoming a better writer before you leap into social media or advertising. Don't publish one of those crappy books that get reviews saying "she needed an editor". And you will be distracted by those shiny lights all around you – it's called FOMO (fear of missing out). I guarantee those authors you idolize were just as lost when they started.
Also, you WILL make mistakes. They will seem enormous at the time. You will laugh at yourself one day. I promise. Really!
